Help with Forage!

A: About Half
B: At least a third
C: Two Thirds

Minimum of 50% but i wouldnt feed less than 80-90%

At least half in any horse's diet, but for a pony generally they don't need anything else, so 100%.

A minimum of 50 per cent only if the pony is in extremely HARD work, ie racing! We tend to grossly over estimate the amount of work our horses do. A pony in maintenance or light work should live very well on forage with no supplementary feeding.

In any case, forage should make up at least 70% of the ration. I agree, 100% forage will suit most ponies but NEVER feed less than 70% forage.

The answer is C. A horses diet should technically be at least 80% forage. Can u tell I've just done the Equine Nutrition course?! chuckle.

our big horses hunt on a 90% fibre diet, and ponies are usually better doers (even in hard work) than big horses.
