I hope this does not sound too morbid or depressing but a friend has asked me to post this for her.

A week ago a friend of mine Claire lost her young sister-in- law to cancer and is now planning the funeral. Although not a horse owner,Claires relative was a great horse lover. Claire would like a horse and rider to lead the funeral procession.

She says that she does not want the horse donned with plumes and the rider dressed in funeral clothes, just an ordinary horse and rider, to represent her sister in laws love of horses. The funeral is to be in East London.

Does anyone know of any equine establishments that could be approached to help with this. I would be very greatful for any suggestions that I could pass on to her.
Thank you

I think that have a 'normal' rider sounds lovely and a is a really nice way to commemorate your friends sister in law.

I am unable to help with any suggestions, but hope it all goes to plan and you are able to find a horse and rider.

What a nice idea and how sad to lose someone so young. The funeral directors should be able to help you. There was a funeral here not so long ago, they didn't want black horses so they had white ones with a beautiful white hearse. The funeral directors organised it all.

The funeral director will probably be able to help. After all, they will know firms that supply a horse drawn hearse, and you would want something that you know is going to behave well and sensibly.

Strangely enough I rode past my church today, and there was a horse drawn hearse, only the second I have ever seen.

You could also try one of the local riding schools, such as Aldborough Hall in Newbury Park, near Ilford, and there is one on Wanstead Flats really near the East London crematorium. Can't think of its name, it was on a threat here recently. It will come to me...
