Help with hacking jacket sizes please!

I gave my ratcatcher away at the weekend as it was just too small now (to be fair I got it when I was 15, I am 38 now!) and have found some bargain new ones on equestrian clearance, but I don't know what a size 12 is, they are all 34", 36", 38", etc.! Is this bust size? What do I get? Thankies!!

I am a size 10 and bought a 34" Shires jacket last week

My Caldene is a 36 and Iam a size 12 but have a large bust,36DD but small 25in waist and short arms(no I dont look like a freak!) But it is quite fitted I cant get a waistcoat or jumper under it. I would have to try a few different makes on.
My sisters Mears keepers tweed is a 38 she is a 12 but doesnt have a large bust but is talller and bigger framed than me, She can get a waistcoat, pullover on under hers.
I would suggest measuring your bust but over what ever you where under it. Unfortunatly I have to buy from shops where I can try on cos of been a strange shape, hence always have to pay top whack!! No internet bargins for me.

I ordered a 38 in the end as I have long arms, also it's a wool one which will hopefully used for hunting so I would like it roomy

I hate it when my bare wrists stick out in the freezing cold!
