Having a few minor probs with my barefoot cob so have started riding him in boots and the 7lb EPS pads (pads only because the boots are a bit big, he's almost impossible to fit!).
The pads are an inch thick, but crush down quite a bit during use.

Question is the pads have become much thinner at the toe than at the heels, I can only assume that this is because the horse is toe-landing. We've only been out in them twice, both times on fairly flat roads, so should they be more evenly worn?

Have never used pads before so don't know how they would typically wear for a normal horse.

Thanks

No, he's only in boots because his EP says they are too short all over, and its making him footsore over rough ground.
He's a nightmare to fit with boots, have tried loads with no luck, marquis, epics, glove wides, OM G2s etc, he's in cavallo's now and at least these stay on in trot! Old Mac G1's would probably fit, but I can't find a secondhand pair of 6s anywhere :(

I would ring the EP and ask them. If the boots still fit and he is still comfortable I don't think it should be too much of a problem as the pads are for fit in your case, the boots will protect.
