Hi

I bought a pony at the beginning of the year and to start with didn't have as much time to exercise her as I would have liked.

So a friend recommended a daughter of a friend of her's to ride her when my couldn't.

Which was approx 3 days a week. All's well but now she wants an agreement for a share drawn up, stating the days she can ride (exclusively) what classes she can enter and which classes my daughter can enter if they both want to go to the same show etc.

Now this started as a friendly agreement but seems to be steam rollering in an exclusive 3 days a week when my daughter wouldn't be able to ride if she wanted too. I'm also reluctant to make my daughter pick what classes she would ever want to enter in any given show.

I'm happy to carry on as we are, I can't see if they both want to ride on any day why the can't but just ride at different times.

What would you do, this girl doesn't pay anything, and I feel as thought I'm being bullied into handing over a free pony for 3 days a week. Or am I being unreasonable, we were first time owners so felt a bit out of our depth but I'm wondering if we were taken advantage off at the time.

We don't need this girl as like I said she doesn't do or pay anything, should I just point out it isn't a share as such as just a free ride now and then.

It's your pony - so your rules.

You don't sound terribly happy with what's been proposed, so tell her no.

Yes, I would just point out this isn't a share and she can ride now and then when it SUITS you - if it doesn't suit her then that's unfortunate.

I certainly wouldn't be drawing up an agreement to allow her to ride certain days. I would thank her for her help and say you hope she has enjoyed the ride of your horse but maybe even try and phase them out a bit now. Do you still need the pony ridden?

I would point out that it was never an official share, but If they want an official share agreement then make them start paying for their days, that may actually change their minds. The going rate round me is £25 + 1/2 shoes!.

no way...........if they dont pay this is ridiculous. If they were paying, then you could understand them wanting to know where they stand, as they dont then forget it.

Thanks, I don't actually need her anymore but I won't just dump her I am happy to have a casual arrangement but didn't really see it as a set in stone share as such.
