Hi,

My Mum and I have just purchased a small (under 3.5 tonnes) horsebox- a van conversion to be specific- which I am able to drive on a normal license at 17.
I am 17 next April and was hoping to be able to drive my horse around probably when I am 18 but my Mum cannot find ANY insurance for under 21's. We understand that it will be very expensive and we are willing to pay a large amount. Has anyone been in the same situation or does anyone know of an insurance company that is likely to insure me?

Any help much appreciated

Have no experience of under 21 insurance, yet. However, have you tried Anthony Evans, they are very helpful and costs are much cheaper than elsewhere, usually, as they are a specialist in horsebox insurance. Here's their no incase you would like to try 02476595812

I think it's going to be a case of get your test asap, get your own car insurance in your name, not as a named driver on someone else and then once you have been driving a year with no problems then start looking around to try to get insurance on the van.

i got my 1st box when i was under 21 and we struggled, even they wouldnt put it in my mums name with me as a named driver. In the end NFU were prepared to let me have my own policy - wooo woooo and it wasnt too expensive
