hi there,

I've recently grabbed an ebay bargain of some Konig Favourit boots (they are normally wayyyy out of my price range!).

I had heard lots of stories of people saying they were agony to break in and unless they are painfully tight they arent a correct fit... is this true??

When mine arrived i was amazed at how comfortable and un-restricting they were, and they also seem quite roomy in the ankle, allowing my foot to slightly move up and down. Does this mean they are too big and Will it make them too big and sloppy when worn in?

Seems like a silly question but ive never brought a stiff dressage boot before and dont want to start wearing these until i know how they are supposed to fit!

When I got mine they were made to measure as I'm a shorty, they was very snug on the leg but I could move my foot ankle quiet a bit but if I bent my kness say when walking they would be a little hard and slightly high behind my knee I used leather stretcher spray on the inside of the ankle so they would soften quicker so they would drop and I could then rotate my foot slightly hope that helps

hi there thanks for reply,

i brought these as a bargain on ebay so unfortunatley they are not measured to my leg :(

the length seems just right at the moment, but do they drop quite a lot once theyre worn in?

im just concerned that if brand new they are already comfortable on the leg and loose at the ankle they will go abit too sloppy when worn in :/

i have naturally very skinny ankles, but the boot fits fine at the top of the calf and then seems to have a lot of room towards the bottom of the calf and ankle, is this just the shape of the boots?

thanks

I was measured in the shop and they ordered the size that would be right for me.

I remember it took a few months to break mine in - I had bruises behind my knees for quite a while, and I tried to speed up the 'breaking in' by wearing them in the house at first! To begin with I didn't have much movement in the ankle area.

They're now 4 years old and lovely and supple at the ankle, and have dropped enough not to pinch the back of my knees. They look better now than when they were new.

Your boots may drop a little bit, but Konigs don't go baggy, so I'm sure you don't need to worry.

I have had both Favorits and Grandgesters made to measure. Like you, the Favorits were sooo comfortable from day 1 (the others were a different story however!) The man that made them told me that Favorits SHOULD be wearable straight away, and actually made me wear them right out of the shop and told me to go ride in them! Lol. The leather is softer than the other models. I also have skinny ankles and I found over time the narrow ankle area became quite worn and creased. This has meant they have dropped about 2cm I guess.

So when I had the Grandgesters made I asked for a little more room in the ankle (plus a longer length) which initially felt weird compared to the snug Favorits, but they are ok and look really nice. These were painful for weeks though as they are a lot stiffer.

So basically, they should be fine!
