Does anyone have any good techniques that help with lengthening. My problem is that he gets strong and just speeds up and sets his neck against me. Im getting the poles out at the w/e.
Thanks xxx

I have been taught to lengthen on a circle, for half of it, then shorten again for other half for 2 reasons:
1. They can`t race off as easily as when on a circle
2. Shortening them so soon doesn`t let them go too flat or onto the forehand.
Hope this helps.

same as les - my trainer gets me to do it on a circle, but only for five strides, then bring her back for five and push on from five. The impulsion needs to be through from behind in the first place, so you need to make sure you've got your horse together properly otherwise it wil rush ad fall on its forehand.
