Thank you but I have tried a hoofpick and I find that all it does is breaks the likit. I also find if hard to take the bit out of the middle as they never seem to slide off.
ditto, also if you squeeze the container in different places and hit it on the floor/wall it helps to prize it out.....even though i dont bother buying those 'bite its', and swollow it hole''as i call them....
i crack the plastic off all the way around and then bang on the floor to make the middle bit slide out.
It took me ages to work out how - but i managed to unpackage 5 yesterday in about 10 mins.
Not so great is that the kids know i can do them so i keep getting presented with likits to undo!
In my experience it takes longer to open them than it does for the horse to eat them! There's another type (I forget the name!) which comes in cardboard packaging, and they're so sticky the cardboard won't come off.

Hmmm, not just my greedy mare then, the chomp it once, break it off and eat/choke/foam/swallow in two bites things :/ So, she now has <font color="blue"> little likits</font> .... she can't get her greedy mouth all the way around them to chomp them and last much longer
The other thing to do is put a piece of string sticking out either side of the lick, underneath the likit (bail twine will do) so that you can pull on the two ends of string and itl pop out. I know it doesnt help for getting this one out but for the future it might.? x
The big ones that you hang up I slit up either side of the plastic, fold it back, push the middle on the floor & the whole thing slips out easily.
The little ones that go in the ball & that you have to get the plastic container out of the ball when it's epty are harder. The best tool I've found is a frustrated welsh cob that's sure there's a little bit more there if he can just get it out, the second best is a pair of pliers. The first is much much quicker!
Gave my horse one of the tongue twisters last night and this morning i went out to find that both the little likits had been eaten, the ball had been chewed and he didn't really want his breakfast
I do wonder why, when they KNOW the problems customers have, and the possible danger to children (of hurting themselves attempting to prise them out of the packaging) WHY the company havent changed the packaging.
The mind boggles, maybe they just don't give a to$s about their customers?
