Hi everyone

My hairy little coblet has been wearing a rug for the winter due to her being clipped for the first time.

I have now taken the rug off due to the weather warming up but she has some ragged patches at the bottom of her mane, closest to where her saddle sits, which I assume has been caused by the rug. The rest of her mane is beautiful - long and thick.

Does anyone have any tips or advice on how I can best get the bottom section back into shape - I would say it is a section of about 5 inches?

She looks fine when tacked up but a little bedraggled when untacked due to her mane.

Thanks in advance.

I've heard of lots of things that will help it grow/make it stronger. I know Theresa_F swears by megatek rebuilder for manes. I've also heard that aloe vera promotes growth along with Carr & Day Hoof Ointment.

Is she wearing rugs at the moment? If so, maybe try spraying that section with lots of conditioner to make it slippy and prevent rub. I've got exactly the same thing at the mo but it's due to them necking, just wish they wouldn't do it on his mane lol!

Hi Kub

No she doesn't have a rug on at all now so fingers crossed she won't loose anymore mane.

I just love her long mane and feel it's such a shame it looks like it does now.
