Help with name please!

We have been tonight to view a litter of yellow lab pups, and my husband has picked out a bitch puppy, nearly fox red in colour. She will be a working dog, and we are trying to find a one or two syllable name, preferably relating either to Dartmoor or to shooting - if anyone has ANY ideas, please can we have them! Thank you!

And there will be pics, but we forgot the camera!

When you said fox red I automatically thought of Foxy - how subtle am I?!

Bracken is a nice name, or Bramble. I can't think of any that might relate at all to Dartmoor or shooting!

I just found out there's a place called Vixen Tor on Dartmoor - so what about Vixen? Apparently a witch called Vixiniana lived there, luring travellers to a grisly end in the bogs... mwahahahaaaaaaa.....

Oh puppy! I won't see her again until we collect her in a week or so! I have remembered she has a weird face hair marking - the hair runs up her nose between her eyes back to front, a bit like a Ridgeback.

I like Vixen too! Be careful with using Purdey - lovely name but I meet sooooo many gundogs with that name!!

Some more good ones... he still hasn't decided! I've come up with Isca (Roman for Exeter, our closest town), Virtue, Elsa (common I guess for a red lab!) and Java...

Hmmm I like Isca and Elsa but I do think calling a dog Virtue may be asking for trouble...

Yes, Virtue would bound to be a little slut! I like Java, our springer bitch is called Jazz so they would go well together, and it rolls off the tongue well (important when I'm bellowing at the dog!).

Just fetched my border collie puppy from snowdonia and have called her Slate as there is so much slate around there seemed right name but until we got to the area she was either abbey, hope, jazz,or skye like to be different.

My dog is called Nellie and I think that's the best name in the world! Or just call her Red!
