Help me! I'm a complete numpty when it comes to these passports, I've always had loan horses so never had to deal with them before.

Owned my neddy for 3 weeks now, his passport was issued by the gypsy cob & drum horse association netherlands, I emailed the english/american address for advice on who to contact and they told me to email the address in holland, which i have done several times but they are not replying! What happens if the 30 days passes and I haven't registered as the new owner???????

....ahem.....coughs......

nothing happens.

* wanders off to find a couple of passports whilst whistling innocently....

you will be arrested and the horse impounded Im afraid :(

actually no ^^ nothing happens. Just keep onn at them and get it done asap :)

Mines been over a year too... At least once a week I say to myself "must get that passport done" and then I never do...

I need to get photos printed though as he's a foal

Whoops, I'm four years down the line and still haven't gotten around to it.... *hangs head in shame and wanders away...

Actually slightly off topic I know and apologies to OP, but how do I change the height on my girl's passport? She was 14hands when I bought her and not sure what it says but doubt it'll be the 16hh she is now....

(whoops, phone!)

... In his current passport pics, and I can never remember to do it... Well that's my excuse!

yours has passport pics?! Mine just have drawings!

I dont know about getting things changed, I suppose you could just email them and ask, and see if you can send it back to be altered.

One of mine, the height is waaay out (says 15.1 and if shes that Im Angelina Jolie) , unless she had stack shoes on on the day  Yet on NED the height is 151cms I think.

I'm in the process of buying a horse which passport says is 14.2 when he's now 15.2. His owner had phone the passport agency and they say she has to get a letter from the vet stating his height and they will change it.

Yes my mare's BHS one just has the diagrams, but coblet's has pics and when I emailed them about it they said I would need to send updated ones and again when he's 5!

RE : The change of height - it has to be done by a vet, and my vet would only do a re-measure if I took the horse to them so it can be measured in their very level measuring room.

Thank you, that was what I was worried about! Interesting really as surely they'd be aware that an 11 month old is going to grow? Oh well, I'll have to do it I suppose, since I want to compete her but what a pain!

Just looked and there's no height given in it at all!!

PASSPORT SYSTEM IS WORKING WELL THEN!!!
Let me see .... Iv got 1 in my name
4 still in old owners names ranging from 4 months to 9 years ago from when I brought then
and iv got my old girls passport still from when she was PTS. Never sent it back.

I have one for my big lad where apparently he used to be skewbald.....
he is now completely white. I'm not even convinced the passport is his...

I have 2 which aren't worth the paper they are written on with no marking verifications. One also has the wrong age on it as well. I'm in the process of getting a letter from the vet verifying he is rising 2 not rising 3 and trying to get it over stamped by CHAPS

One passport has had a muck up with microchip stickers and although the right number is registered with Petlog, the wrong number is on the passport....figure that one out! Noone else can!!

The baby isn't passported just yet as he has changed colour 3 times already from fuzzy grey fluff to dark brown fuzz and now his summer coat is coming through he seems to be liver chestnutty with roan bits! I am waiting for it to settle down to sort him out.

Oh, and I have one very dodgy old Gypsy Cob Association passport that was issued when my lad was shipped over from Ireland aged 8.

So, yes, the passport system appears to be working very well!! :p :D

I'm another bad, naughty person, 5 years this year and it's still I'n the previous owners name!! Mine has 2 different passport numbers I'n it. I showed the vet at an annual jabbing, said should it be like that and he said no. I'm now concerned that the passport police will swoop I'n and i'l end up being fined and jailed, so asked him what I should do and his reply was nothing!

Another who has never got round to it! In these circumstances what do you do? Do you have to get a completely new passport or can you still send the old one off?

I had mine for four years before I sent it to be changed and that was only as the cost was going up from £10 to £12 - Me tight ? Ducks arse :o
Came back with my name and adress written in, no stamp or anything, could of done that myself !

I've got one passport in my name and a couple for horses that I no longer own and one passport as been waiting to be sent off for 2 years..oh and one for a horse that died 6 years ago.

Yep, passport system is working well. They all have one.

I haven't done my mare's yet and I've had her almost 2 years now! Woops :p But I do have an excuse, the IPSA who she's registered with in Ireland were really iffy about sending the payment over from England to them but now they seem to be letting you do it by card or over the phone I think so hopefully I can get my act together and sort her passport soon :)

6 Years after buying my mare i finally changed the ownership. I still have the passports from the mares i had who died as both passports were from an agency who no longer exist. I looked into changing my geldings one and its going to be £45!!!!!! so needless to say as he is 22 it can stay in the old owners name.
