I recently realised that my jacket I've been using for showing is over 12 years old, and doesn't really fit anymore

I've persuaded my OH to buy me a new outfit for my birthday which is imminent, but not sure what colour jacket I should get. Also, I've been using an M&S mens white shirt and black tie, so I think I might be able to replace these at the same time, if I can persuade him of the necessity

I will hopefully be doing some unaffiliated RC competitions - in dressage, equitation, workers (possibly) and some small show jumping classes.

What should I be wearing on my top half? Thankfully my jods/boots are much newer, and still look ok

Horses are dark bay and black if it makes a difference for tweed colour.

Thanks

Green tweed is the best!!!

Looks lovely with buff breehes, buff shirt, and a buff stock with spots on and a gold stock pin - that is what I wear and looks lovely! Well I think anyway!!!

Green or brown tweed is more versatile and suitable for everything you mentioned. Navy will only be suitable for the dressage and show jumping. With tweed, for workers and equtation it should be with a shirt and tie (preferably cream or coloured shirt with coloured tie - black can look like you're going to a funeral). For dressage and show jumping you can wear a shirt and tie or stock shirt and coloured stock (most people go for spots or checked).

I am going to start sounding like i work for her if i am not careful but www.mrscandy.co.uk does the MOST fabulous jackets- both plain and tweed,.I recently got my made to measyre tweed and everywhere I go people ask where it is from. She is also the lovelist woman you will ever meet! Tell her Louise sent you- she will know me! I was soooo excited about my jackets.
Her name is Kim Campion

I always think keepers tweed looks classy but whatever colour you chose I'd put it with a toning shirt and tie or stock rather than a white shirt and black tie ( too funereal). Think Trinny and Suzannah, chosing a colour to suit you and hold it against your face when you try it on.

A dark jacket is fine for more up market shows in the afternoon or dressage but black doesnt suit everybody. If you can only afford one jacket make it a really well cut tweed in a good heavy cloth . Sorry but you just have to put up with being hot if you want to look really smart!

Thanks for all your help - it seems tweed and coloured shirt is the way forward. Hopefully OH will agree that a good quality one will be worth dusting off his credit card.
