Have Friend who is looking for her first horse.

Friend currently hacks out confidently either alone or with me on a forward-going and occasionally strong, but pretty much bomb-proof mare. Friend is 40ish, about 5'6" and lightweight (around 8.5 stone). Friend has done a little jumping around 20 yrs ago, but is looking for a confidence-giving hack on which she can also do local prelim dressage, have lessons, do pleasure rides and local showing. no jumping required, but it would be useful to have a horse happy to do a working hunter or clear round at local shows (in case she lets me ride it!) Would describe friend as commited and keen but a little green/rusty.

ESSENTIAL requirements are:

MUST hack out alone and in company, in front or behind without hotting up/napping and MUST be 200% with farm machinery, lorries and buses when meeting them on the road.

Must be sound with dogs.

Must live in or out and be happy to be stabled alone at night if necessary. Our two mares live out as much as possible (they didn't come in this winter).

Must be easy to handle on the ground and altogether a nice person. Must travel in a trailer or a lorry in company and alone.

And the rest of it.....

Mare or gelding and colour are immaterial (it will live with 2 mares though), age, between 6 and 15 but older may be considered.
No medical issues or known vices. Must be open to vetting.
14.3 - 15.2 in height and no requirements for fancy gadgets when ridden.
Welsh cob or of that type preferred but any breed considered except arabs and thoroughbreds. No heavyweights or trads.
25 mile radius of Atherstone/Nuneaton only at the moment - Friend will expect to view horse at least 3 times before making her decision so don't want to travel too far.
Trial would be good and Friend will insure horse for any trial period. Tack good but not essential. If horse drives that would be good too, but again, not essential.
Must be good with farrier/vet, to clip, box and handle in general.

The right horse will come to a home for life. Our facilities are basic (we are on a beef/dairy farm) but we have a lot of experience and knowledge.

Do you have/know the right horse? PM me if you do and thanks for reading.

xx

Oooh, you have been looking hard!

I like no's 1 and 4, but think that no's 2 & 3 need competitive homes which new horsey won't have initially. Whilst Friend is happy to pay for a traffic-proof horse, she doesn't want to pay for a potential county level show horse, as she is never going to want to do that.

I really like no 4, and it although it looks a bit heavy, may not be too far away, so I feel a 'phone call may be in order.....

Thanks for your help Competitiondiva.

P.s. - I also liked no 6 but she doesn't want anything with Arab in it - mind you, it doesn't look very araby, does it?
