Help with shape of field for electric fencing can it be U shaped

I want to fence off an area in my field for my horse to graze, effectively dividing field in half. One half for working one for grazing. In his grazing area there is a small wooded area where he can go for shelter. However, this effectively leaves a U shaped area for me to fence off. My question is: Is it possible to do a U shape with electric fencing or does it need to be a continous shape ie. square or circle. Thanks

Can be any shape, stright line, round trees, u shape, s shape v shape whatever - doesn't have to have a circuit ie circle. square, rectangle , triangle.

Thanks, that helps. But is it right that if it touches a branch or long grass etc, it is grounded and therefore the electricity stops?

You will need to cut back weeds etc otherwise it will lose power( earthing out) but you don't need a circuit as such.

Yes it will earth if it is touching branches or even long grass.
Also don't attach it to wire fenceing or your poor electifire will try to make all your fencing eletric. (A friend of mine couldn't work out why her fence wasn't working she got a new battery, new fencer and new tape and it still didn't work till i pointed out it was attached to the wire. )
