Hi,
So, i get incredibly nervous when i go to shows, i've only been to two shows before, i'm not nervous in the warm up ring and me and horse listen to eachother and work together and she jumps the practice jump absolutely perfect, the second we enter the ring, i get nervous and she get excited. She is very sensitive to what my feelings and when im calm she's calm but i just can't seem to stop being stressed when i go in the ring. Don't get me wrong, i absolutely love jumping and when i come out of the ring i wanna do it again :) Unfortunately, i have a sensitive horse who does need to be ridden to the fence, she's not the sort to point her at it and leave her to it, you need to look for striding and ask her for the correct one etc. if you don't she either charges at the fence and over jumps it by miles, runs out or when we go to pieces completely, she crashes into the jump.
So, my question is, how do i calm myself down? I was looking at rescue remedies, but i don't know if they work and i don't really want to spend my money on something that doesn't work, can anyone suggest any good rescue remedies?

At home we jump 1.30, i'm calm, she listens and really enjoys herself, at shows i compete at the 90's and odd 1m's and i go into bits.
Help?

Get yourself and the horse used to competing by entering only clear round classes for a while. You will not feel under such pressure to perform. Then you could add in one 'proper' class when you both feel more settled.
You could also try getting dressed in your show clothes to jump at home, so that you get used to that as well. Could you organise 'mini-shows' at home with friends, to practice in a slightly busier environment without the pressure?
