I am moving my horses 100 miles away in Feb/March. I have not travelled a horse this distance for ages. I remember with Toffee she hated the travel boots so I just ended up not using any, she was unshod. However Samba is shod so would have to put boots on her of some form or fashion.

Do I just put tendon boots and overeach's on her with some brushing boots on her hinds? Or do I use wraps and bandages which hopefully wont slip??

Feeling a bit silly posting this, owning horses for 10years means I should be able to decide this my self.

My Welsh cob has never been travelled in boots or bandages of any sort, he was like this when I got him, and has a habit of kicking out backwards when travelling - into the ramp. I feel this would only be worse if I used boots etc. And we never go far or often, so he goes without. Other than the kicking which he does only when in the trailer with another horse - such as if we share a lift to somewhere, he travels well and is stable on his feet.

My TB doesn't like boots and has managed to get them off in the past. He treads on himself at the drop of a hat. So I use overreach boots on all four feet, and then gamgee and bandages up to the knee/hock. The bandageds never move. I don;t use hock boots and this is the bit of the travel boot he hates and results in flinging legs about!

My wee native pony goes bare too. Stands like a brick, although when she had a little rider she was bought a fetching outfit to go to shows in so had to wear boot then!

My horse had never travelled in boots. So i just put brushing boots on all round. If i was travelling him that far i may put bandages and over reach boots on though but nothing to padded as he doesnt really even like having boots on to be ridden
