Dear horse owner,

I am a final year veterinary student at The Royal Veterinary College, London. As part of my final clinical studies I am undertaking a research project looking at the links between crib-biting/windsucking and colic in horses. To help me with this, I would be very grateful if you would take a few minutes to fill out a short survey. It does not matter whether your horse crib-bites/windsucks or not, or whether you horse has ever had colic or not, I would like to hear from as many people as possible!

The project and questionnaire has been approved by the Ethics Committee and the Royal Veterinary College. Your response is entirely confidential, your personal details and the details of your horse will not be recorded and you will not be contacted again after the completion of the survey, unless you would like to have a copy of my results in which case I would be delighted to share these with you.

I would be very grateful if you could complete one survey form for each horse you have and if you have multiple horses multiple completions would be much appreciated.

Thank you ever so much for your help,

Thank you so much for all your responses - especially for the time some of you spent filling out extra information, it is very much appreciated.

Thank you also for your well wishes Adorable Alice

If anyone else is able to fill it out, I would be very grateful .

Thanks, Meredith

Done, but only filled it out in relation to the one of mine who crib bites.
Would really love to read the findings from your study when it is done.

Thank you everyone.

Tonitot - thank you for the thought, however I am trying to look at incidence too. Whilst I know this will be askew, with people with horses that crib being more likely to complete my survey, I am trying to minimise it by people filling it out only for their own horses. Don't worry if you have already filled it out for someone elses though, as it is something I will address in my discussion anyway, I'm just not trying to actively promote it. If you could, however, alert horsey friends to it to fill out it would be very much appreciated!

For those that are interested in the results, please email me and mejarman@rvc.ac.uk, and I shall email you once I have completed it.
