Hi I have a 25yr old 3/4 TB gelding. Although his weight is ok-ish it's hard to keep it on, especially through the winter and his ribs are showing. He is regularly wormed and I have increased his feed. He has plenty of hay, he also has readigrass but

he's too fizzy. Can anyone recommend a good feed/supplement or anything that will give him a good covering without going nutty!!!!!!!

I did vegetable oil but didn't make much difference although I didn't feed a big amount. I've read conflicting things about oil, so not sure about feeding him alot!?

I use Baileys Outshine, it's less messy than oil but works out quite economical if you buy the 20kg bag, my neddy's done very well on it and we have to be very careful with his feet

300 mls is a cup and a half, so not really a lot.

Think Soya may be higher in calories...not sure.

Outshine is good too, but expensive. A 5 Litre pot of Soya oil is £5 and last me a couple of weeks

A feed balancer such as top spec fb (they have a web site you can order from)
I feed sugarbeet and alpha a in the winter to keep the condition on my boy. (Alfa a is a great source of protein),

but does a higher proteing content likely to make him more fizzy, bearing in mind he is TB. yesterday i went out on him and he just jogged the whole way, he was really difficult!!!

I suppose the alfa a provides a good source of energy and it could make some horses fizzy - In the summer I change to hi fi as it has less energy.
Is your horse only eating hay/readigrass? If so I would not have thought he is getting too much energy. Maybe you could try something like pink powder or a similar vitamin supp to help increase condition w/out the energy. Alternatively feed more energy for the weight gain but maybe add a calmer.
Have you checked his teeth?

Last year I used Saracen's Equi Jewel pellets. Quite expensive at £30 a sack which lasted me a month, but kept her weight on well.

This year we tried, and she's still on the Soaked Oats diet. Results have been amazing. Have had to reduce her feed as she was getting fat! Only tried them because I know she doesn't go nuts on dry oats though.
