Finally, im aloud to start looking for a new horse
laugh.gif

Went to look on horsemart then thought to myself.. "ermm what exactly do I want?!"

So though you lot could help me? I'll tell you what im looking for+stuck on..

Looking for something young(nothing really under 10), although schooled well with plenty of scope, to BS+PC on regulary(sp!) and possibly BE , friendly nice temp ect.

I'm 14 and just over 5'6, last summer i was showjumping my mum's 16.2/3hh TB and 15.3hh Tb.
Just not sure whether to get a 148cm to go up the pony ranks again, then sell on once i've left school, before I go to collage at Wellington Riding as a working student, but i'd like to try out for a team at Hartpury Collage a year or two after i've finished wellington, as i'm going to be competing back and forth from Brittain to France (as we chop&change due to my mums job, and take the horses to the other house)

OR get a nice 4y/o to schooled and take through the ranks...

It's just i havn't been riding ponies for nearly two years now, apart from sitting on YO granddaughters cob, and just not sure how long i'd last in a pony - as my legs are so long! whenever i sit on one, i feel so big and lanky...

Any advice ?

I'm around your size and I'm 16years old, I have a 17hh TBxWB and I don't look too small on him really. We were going to buy a 14.2 when we were looking last year but didn't see the point as I would've only got attached to it and wouldn't have been able to sell it when the time came! Seen as though you haven't ridden properly in 2 years I'd get something to bring you back rather than getting a youngster and having to sort you both out

I wouldn't get anything smaller than 16hh if you're getting a horse- if you're having one you might as well have room to grow into it

Hope this helps

Ellie (like your name by the way

) If I were you I would be looking for a scopey WB/TB type of anything up to 15.3hh. However there is no point in eliminating any other horse in one fell swoop if you are serious about it because just because a horse doesn't fit your exact guidelines doesn't mean it isn't fit for the job.

I have a friend who has a chunky, dopey looking 15hh skewbald cob that can jump about 4"6... You would struggle to find many horses of her height and build that could jump that, but that doesn't mean it is impossible and my God is she fun to jump

Go out, have fun, try a range of horses and see which one suits you best, that way you will have the best chance and the most fun in the future, not stuck with a 16.2, tb/wb that "can" jump 6", but only out of their stable before galloping away
