Can any one offer advice what work a yearling can do ie long reining ect? We have a shetland cross and she goes alot for walks with 3 year old but still insist on jumping low stable door and taking her self out, today it was a morning and afternoon canter around a friends feild which wasnt fun trying to catch her and it cant be good for her! When we tack 3 year old up she gets all exsited and wants ago never had one like it before!

thanks sorry for long post

So she gets no turnout???

Surely a properly fenced off field should be able to keep a tootsie wee shetland in ?? lol

What heights are your doors ??

shes 12 hh not normal shetland size lol is turned out 12 hours a day. there just pony size doors, we have post and railed feild and electric fenced but notting stands up 2 her lol. So ant one long reined a yearling?

It may well be that you're taking your companion away from her and she's on her own - hence the jumping out??

Either way - if she want's to join you - I'm sure she'll benefit.

try putting an anti weave grill or some sort of grill up in the stable door to keep her in i dont think longreining is the answer for a yearling
