I have been using wood pellets for months now with no problems and recommended them on here! However my mare has started to cough the last week and today has a bit of a runny nose. When mucking out my bed today I have noticed it is REALLY hot in the banks and there is a horrible acrid fumes coming from the bed when i've dug them out! I had noticed a bit of dusty and fusty smell last few days but thought it was me (had bad cold). I do muck it out properly everyday as she is a messy so and so and rotate moving the banks so it is never in one spot for more than a couple of days.
I am now really worried that my stables are wood and now (totally over reacting) am worried it could combust like a muck heap and don't know what to do! I have called them but there was no one available just wondered if mine is a dodgy batch as otherwise previously it was fine.
I've got £234 of it outside which i'm not too keen on using and i'm still coughing my guts up.. Hopefully its just a bad pallet...

Tea and cake for getting this far!

They have just phoned me back, lady very helpful and apparently nothing like this has ever happened before anywhere. She has advised that I empty whole bed and start again so we will see...
