Hi all!

My name is Sarah and I was wondering if you guys might be able to give me a little advice.

I have loved horses ever since I first saw one (as I am sure many of you have!) but I am not as lucky as some of you, I don't have my own horse, or the money to buy one

Therefore I was wondering if you guys know of anywhere or anyone near the Derby area would be kind enough to exchange a simple hack for some work! I have many years experince of riding and taking care of horses. I have also studied Equine Sports Science (Equestrian Psychology) at university. I am def not affraid of hard work, and just to be back around horses would be great, and getting to ride would be a dream.

I am currently signed off work with depression, and I do not see myself going back to work anytime soon, so I need something to keep me busy. Even if I muck out all week and then go for a quick hack, i'll be so grateful.

Thanks for all your help in advance.

Sarah x

hiya, sorry wrong area of the country for me, why don't you also try putting up posters in local tack shops? Good luck!

I am wrong end for you too but i reckon you would get lots of takers if you put ad in yellow paper or in tack shops. Especially with your experience and qualifications. I would love to have someone like you around.
Just be careful that it is not someone a bit dodgy who will try to take advantage, ie lots of hours work and not much riding in return. Try small private yards first, you would be amazed at the amount of people with horses who need a jockey.
Good luck with it and hope you feel better soon.

yep definately agree with the above! Also perhaps browse the new rider website as there are sometimes people on there looking for someone to work for rides. Sorry I couldn't help any further and good luck with the search

Just wanted to say good on you for being proactive and not sitting round while you are off work. I hope you find some horsey time and that helps you along the way. Good luck, keep smiling :-)

Im sure I have seen some ads in our local tack shop (Martins Farm, Dorketthead, north Notts) for help. It might be worth trying there.

Here is there website - maybe if you phoned you could ask if there is anything on their board to save you going over.

I'm too tall for a pony, sadly! I'm 5'7 and although I'm not a hippo, I'm not a Kate Moss and I wouldn't want to squash the poor pony
