i appreciate any advice i can get.....thank you in advance....i have a beautiful 17h belgium warmblood mare. she sleeps standing up and has become unbalanced and fallen on her front right knee and 17 days ago due to the fall has a wound slightly below her knee about the size of a 50p piece. it initially swelled up quite large with no heat and no lameness it also started leaking the yellow gunky fluid the swelling has now gone down considerably and is a hard swelling not soft still no heat and no lameness but the gunky fluid is still leaking. the issue i have is that i live in northern cyprus and the vet is an animal vet and not an equine vet. this is why i need as much advice as possible. she had equine antibiotics and the wound itself is being cleaned daily with saline solution and then i always cover it up with a large breathable plaster when she goes into the pen to stretch her legs and roll if needed to stop dirt from entering it and also to keep flies off it. I then let it breath while in the stable. we have been using biokadin which is similiar to a purple iodine lotion. the flesh is a light pink but it is still leaking the yellow fluid which i think is fibrin fluid. please let me know if there is anything else i can do to assist the healing as i miss riding her and want her back to her well self
