Hello.

Just wondering if anyone can help me?

I'm looking to do a local veteran ridden class with my irish tb, though i have no idea what i should wear and what he should be turned out like?

So... What should i wear?

What should my horse be turned out like? eg- what kind of bridle? flash or no flash? Plaited?

And what do i need to do when there? Walk, trot and canter then do an individual show?

Sorry for all the questions!

Thanks

hey i used to do loads of ridden vetern classes and i used to wea show jacket and made sure long boots, hair net, tie and rose hole etc etc.
horsey wore fancy stich raised bridle (she was more show pony type) no flash/martingale, snaffle. most of time i did a little show of walk trot and canter on both reins and used to show off with bit extended canter then rein back at end. i used to really enjoy them so have fun!!!!
NB keep individual sho short sweet and eye catching!!

Thanks!

:)

Does the show jacket need to be tweed or can it be black?

Does everyone go round together at first yeah? Or have i got the wrong idea?

Yes everyone will go round together at the start!
Jacket can be tweed hacking jacket or show jacket(Black usually). Ideally hacking jacket if native type.
Tack needs to be kept as plain as possible and type of bridle dependent of type of horse i.e Cob/native type horse wears a hunting style bridle(flat noseband)if more show horse/pony type then a more showy bridle can suit.
No numnah and if possible snaffle or double bridle.
If it a local show they are usually a bit more relaxed on what you wear and will always be willing to give advice.

Good luck and enjoy

mine was always black but i went for more show pony look, tried to get matching button hole and browband!!
it depends on the level of show/class really as you have to allow for some really really old ponies on lead reins etc at local shows who may not be able to go round and round etc then do individual show. most of the ones i did were local level and was individual show only but some of the county ones i did had you go round and round in all paces then do an individual show which was a pain as class went on forever. depends on judge as some like to place the oldest regardless of way of going and some judges do opposite. i always plaited unless native. showing is so subjective so just do what you feel is right!!

QR- Thanks so much everyone!! Gives me a better idea of what i need to do!

At local level i'd be able t get away with a black numnah under my saddle? as my horse has a raiser pad under his saddle.
