i have just bought 2 beautiful sec B yearlings One is a little more bossy than the other when i take one of them from the field she goes mad what does one do to seperate them or would you just leave them which i dont like doing its going to be very difficult when i have to take one of them out Help !!!
 
Is there any way you could take one out of the field but then do your handling or whatever maybe 6 metres or so away from the field gate or fence. The one left in the field may be calmer when it can still see its companion and you can gradually work at increasing the distance over the coming weeks/months.

Or once you have taken one out of the field could somone else pop a wee distaction feed into the field to keep it busy while you move the other one away initially, maybe still keeping it in sight of pony in the field?

We had problems like this with one of our babies - he is more of a stressy head than the filly. He is now three but it has taken at least 2 years for him to stop trying to rear out over the field gate or stable door if left on his own, even for 1 minute while I turnout another. I try and change his turnout/bring in routine in winter so he doesn't rely on going out in a particular order which for him has worked well. Although he is now much better and will happily clean the other horse buckets form breakie while I do turnouts I wouldn't trust him completely quite yet. In the field he is much better and will just trot up and down the fence line and then go and graze but he can always see other horses in the next field.

Give it time......yours are fairly new in their new home aren't they?.....so they will calm down more as they settle.
 
At their age you probably wont want to be doing too much with them anyway?......assuming you are just trying to get them used to tiny bit of lead walking, a wee bit of grooming and feet handling. To be honest (but only my opinion:)) you also want to let them have time to be baby horses without putting too much pressure on them to do much more than the above and for very brief periods each time and not every day either really.
 
Thank you Bunny for your advise would you leave them out in the field all night or would you bring them into the stable which i have been doing each evening the little ponies have had rugs on and have had their headcollars on and off and led about so i suppose they are really good they will be 2 next year what do you think ?
 
If you can stable them seperate. that would be far better for you, as then you can walk each seperate and build up that way, and they will get less stress if they are in their own space.:):)
