I keep my youngster on a livery yard which is also a working farm. They have just started lambing in the barn next to the stables and I got to help out with a difficult lambing yesterday - a first time ewe and first time for me - I found it quite emotional and realised what hard work it is. It is also brilliant for the horses as they have seen cows, sheep, pigs and regularly have chickens roosting in the stables - anyone else keep their horses on farms.

This might be better suited to Lounge rather than news. But as a vet student I've done a couple of seasons lambing and I love it! So rewarding! Nearly every farmer I know is glad of an extra pair of hands around this time too.

One of my friends does it every year (she's a vet student) and loves it! Must admit it sounds like good fun.

Careful though - last year she had a cut on her arm, got E.Coli from a sheep and spent a week in hospital ...
