Hello, this may be a difficult one.

I would like to help my partner when she is jumping her horse in the school. She really benefits from her sister being there who give her advice to get better however, she cannot be there all the time. Which leaves me, someone with no experience with horses.

Since I've been with her, I have taken the time to learn more about them but, I'm in no position whatsoever on telling someone else how to jump.

So I was wondering if there is any material/books/anything to learn from in order to help her.

Like I said, I know this may to difficult but, I'd appreciate anything.

Thank you. :)

Sometimes just reminding people of the most simple things can be so helpful!

My Non-horsey OH sits in the corner and googles dressage tips! Sit up, soft elbows, hands forward, leg on!

I'm not a jumper but I help out my friends sometimes. Usually looking up, over and past the jump makes the biggest difference! Sitting up before and after the fence. Position pointers are often the most useful. As riders we typically get fixated on trying to improve ourselves without looking at ourselves first!

Moving poles and videoing are the most useful things for now, watch the videos together later and discuss what is going on and what she wants to improve, then you can start to repeat certain phrases at appropriate times during the jumping sessions, generally it will be the same issues so fairly easy to pick up on.
Keep a straight approach, maintain the rhythm, look up, look to your next fence, try not to lose the outside shoulder on the turn are a few that regularly get used in lessons I give and are useful reminders for most riders whatever level they are at.

The best help my non-horsey partner can give me is to tell me to look up! Ask what her main thing is and just repeat it at appropriate times :)
