Hi guys

My old boy has just had a full once over from the vets and they are pleased. He's got no obvious health problems and is doing very well for his age.

They did say that his liver is maybe a little weakened from age. If he was a horse I know I could go to local feed store and find a suppliment to help support this, but it's not so easy with dogs. Does anyone have any suggestions?

My old dogs with liver problems have gotten a good quality food, with max. up to 30 % (if I remember correct) meat and the meat it did contain was only of really good quality. Both brands with veterinary diets and some other brands have special "Good-for-the-liver" sorts of food.

I forgot to mention that three or four, small meals a day is more mild for the body's liver, intestine and such, to deal with, instead of one big meal.

I bought two different sorts of what I call "Good-for-the-liver" food, and used one for the regular meals and one for treats. I didn't stop entirely to give them bones, because I feel that gnawing on bones is so valuable for them, but I tried to also buy some bones mostly made of vegetables.
