anyone else dealt with them? my arab came in with huge lump on her rump last week - vets been out and given bute/antibiotics and keeping an eye on it - shes not lame and its v slowly going down but anyone have any advice to help heal in addition to what vet has advised? IM attempting to hot/cold towel it although she's not appreciating it!!

Mine slipped eventing once and studded her tummy through the stud girth. The girth prevented any cuts, but she had a HUGE Boob develop. It went hard, and I did try hot and cold, to not much effect.

TBH it was time that cured it, about 3 months before it was not obvious. I did also try massage, she did not appreciate it.

Having said that she only had a few weeks off, and was sound throughout.

Edited to add - it was half a rugby ball in size.

Ohh thanks for replying ... it just looks so bad (sounds the sae size as yours was) and also doesn't appreciate the massaging! Its gone down a little so touch wood it will go in time x

I am sure it will. If she is sound I would have thought gentle exercise would benefit the circulation.

Maybe a massage pad (equilibrium?) held over the area would be mild but increase circulation? Or magnet therapy?

If she is sound I would just work gently until it improves.

Well she's out in the day with my other mare and in at night - shes not at all lame so will give her a few weeks to see how she goes ... vet advise hot/cold towelling too so will keep trying a bit of everything !
