I bought 15 bales of Auboise (hemp) to try and wondered if anyone has used or is using it! Its supposed to 'adsorb 500% more' (500% more than what?) and is dust free. It does state clearly on the sacks that it MAY cause colic if large quantities are eaten

so I will be spraying it with Creolina (our equiv of Jeyes) before putting Tom back in his box-anyone know how tasty it is to the equine palate? Thanks, Mairi.

Yep we use it for both of ours. I really like it as theres no smell at all.
However with my disgustingly wet mare I throw hers up everyday and don't use it as recommended cause it gets so squelchy that it effects her skin on her belly. Then again she does drink half a dustbin at night....
I've never had a problem with them eating it.
Its meant to be great for joints as well as its quite a warm bedding

good stuff, use this for my two.

I use a full bed on rubber mats, as my horses tend to dig around. Both are very wet individuals so I do a full muck out every day, and find that I can isolate the wet patch and droppings very easily so there is very little actually chucked out.

it can be a little "slippery" at the start, but it settles very very quickly. Never had a problem with them eating it either. In fact It was was I put a previous horse on who did eat his bedding.

we use it too! i highly recommend as its really easy to muck out! my parents are trying out these enzymes which we mix into the bed and it disolves the urine so all we have to do is pick up the poos from the top and not disturb the base! its a really cosy bed and so clean, saves us so much time!

Thanks for your replies

. Im running down Toms bed and hope to have him on it by the weekend. What draws me to it is the dustlessness(!) as with the temp being in its 30s every day the shavings beds are incredibly dry and dusty. It will also work out cheaper than using shavings which is a big plus. Its a hassle having to change bedding, Ive got 9 to change over

. Just hope I dont have to muzzle the lot of them! Mairi.

I use Hemcore - convert since a trial last year. Absolutely fab. V absorbant easy to muck out and the muck heap bio degrades beautifully. No problem with horses eating it. Maybe when bed first laid a horse might nibble it but you do have to sprinkle with water to settle so you could put a deterent in the water possibly,.
