I'm not surprised, we had a lot of rain overnight and the parking and gateways must be a nightmare let alone being able to get an ambulance around the course. They did well to get any event there at all after the conditions we've had. We wouldn't have even been able to have our XC ride if it had been this weekend, you'd never have got any wagons on the field even, they'd have gone out of sight.
Its a mess there we withdrew from the 1* took three tractors to pull us in, xc was holding up well but sj was a mess lots of people saying it should of been cancelled today. They were just been greedy.
Its one of the worse conditions ive seen as i said before it should of been cancelled today i hope there has been no accidents. We did dress yesterday and thought we should save him for another day
Its not a case of going soft its thinking about the horses, alot of people was commenting and all the officials never left the sj as i said xc was ok when we left not many had gone round.
Henbury was a total joke and it should have been cancelled. It took an hour and forty minutes before we got towed in. Most of the horses looked lame working in for the dressage it was that deep. The intermediate started of with 9 fences which swiftly got reduced to 7 and then a further fence got taken out later on. A good round was 3-4 fences down!!! The final straw was seeing the ambulance being towed around by a tractor....how would the organisers have explained if someone had got badly hurt and they had to tow the ambulance across to fetch them????
I've just got back, and it was horrible, absolutely bottomless and wish I hadn't even bothered to showjump tbh - he tried his heart out and had two down but it sounds like that wasn't a bad round in the circumstances.
They were lucky the ambulance agreed to stay, I was told yesterday about a North Devon show that was cancelled after many spectators had paid their ten quid to go in, when the ambulancemen saw they would need a tractor to move at all they refused on the grounds of H and s and the whole thing was abandoned. Even worse the organisers refused to hand back the tenners to those already in there!!
