I'm sure you're all sick of hearing about me and Henry today

But was so pleased with the spud I just wanted to give you all a little update on how he is doing

His recall is much better, although he still has his moments, today it was really very good right up until that last little bit which spoiled it

I took him out on the longline a couple of times at the end of last week to reinforce the message and it seems to have helped. He also did a very good wait today, so am chuffed with him all in all.

The longline has been a huge help at work, although he still tries it on every so often he now stops when I yell NO most of the time, which has got to be good. It also means I can walk arund the paddocks closest to the office again which is such a help!

He has learned a whole new whistle command this week - it is probably a random one I made up myself, but we are using three pips for 'this way', which worked excellently today, just getting him to keep an eye on me and change direction when I did.

Finally, he just did his very first retrieve to hand with his new dummy

So I am very proud of him tonight, even though it was only in the house, he did it really well lots of times. I was even able to hide the dummy and then send him to find it and bring it back to my hand with a bit of encouragement

So I am very proud of the little spud tonight, even if he is still a hooligan

If he was ever perfect I would be at the emergency vets like a shot, for he would be very, very, very ill indeed

But I was very proud of his retrieve, it's been a long time coming
