For those who saw my previous post about our new pony, Henry, and his big problem .. we are getting there slowly :)

We've had him a week now and when he came we couldnt get near him, today I was standing next to him giving his neck and face a good scratch :) He doesnt let the person I own him with do that, but that may be due to the fact that on Saturday when she asked someone to "help" with him that they plus another stranger were all in his stable trying to corner him to get a headcollar on him, which I didnt find out until the Monday, but they didn't get anywhere. Also according to the person who "helped", I dont know what I'm doing and she's going to dope him up, take him up to the round pen at work so SHE can bond with him!! He's not anything to do with her!! >:| I was told all this by the person I live with who was there when they were both saying it and now they kind of know that I know about it all they've backed off and the other person who owns him has agreed to let me do the work with him for a week or so until I can get a headcollar on him without stressing him out ... For someone who doesn't know what they're doing I think I'm doing pretty well!!

Anyway .. that little rant over .. I'm glad me and Henry are getting somewhere :) Maybe threatening to make him into Henry-burgers earlier today made him think ;)

Well done. I havn't read your other post. But you are right cornering him will not help you bond with him. I had to laugh when you said the other person said they where gonna dope him. How they gonna do that if you can't get near him . It sounds to me like you are doing all the right things. Build his trust slowly and carefuly. I have delt with many problem horses/ponies and have never found cornering them perticuly helpful.
It sounds like you have come along way already. Keep up the good work and soon he'll trust you :D. Keep us updated and if you need any help/advice i'm always here.

Thanks :D Haha I think they were planning on putting it in his food as he's a typical fat pony and will eat absolutly EVERYTHING! What annoyed me most is they were gonna try and do it all behind my back!! I own half of him and they had no right. Byt hey ho .. nothing they can do now I'm getting somewhere with him :)
