I can't put my finger on it, but he's just not right....a bit....off, if you know what I mean.
He was quiet this morning before I went to work...came home this afternoon, and was relieved to see he'd been eating. Took him for a walk and he wasn't himself, I thought it was possibly the sun affecting him, though didn't seem overly warm and had drunk an average amount of water. he just seemed a bit lethargic, if that makes sense.
I started giving him a brush but he really wasn't into it, so, since he wasn;t exactly filthy, I left him alone. He was weeing and pooing normally and his gut was making the usual noises.
I phoned the vet for a bit of advice, took his temp, which was normal, phoned the vet back, and he said to keep an eye on him, and phone if there's a change.
I felt a bit of a plonker, as I didn't actually have any symptoms to relay, but I KNEW something wasn't quite right.
So now Henry's tucked up in bed, lying down sleeping, which is normal for him, he ate his tea and supper and tucked into his haynet, he's still toileting as normal, but there's something I'm just not happy with. I'm checking him every half hour, as I'm really paranoid that something awful will happen, and have awful images of him colicking or something and dieing a horrible death while I'm tucked up warm in bed....
I phoned the vet back and asked if he'll come out in the morning to look him over....
The thing is, there's nothing actually wrong, there is, but isn't if you know what I mean!
Thank God I have an understanding hubby lol He even offered to sit up with hens so that I can get some sleep, but like I said, I'll not be able to sleep anyway, it's pointless both of us being up. I tried explaining colic to him and what to look out for, as he's taking a bit more interest in Hens now, and likes to give him his tea when I'm at work....Big mistake, he's adament Henry's dying everytime he takes a roll in the paddock lol
