Does anyone have any information or advice regarding the passing of hep c? I sent a healthy mare to a registered stud in May 07, in May 08 she produced a beautiful foal but became ill shortly afterwards. She has since been diagnosed with hepititus C, recently the foal has shown lost of condition was quiet and appeared depressed. He has now been diagnosed with this too and possibly, autoimmune disease. Does anyone know how or where I could find out if any other mares or youngstock from this stud have become ill in this way? Unfortunately it is unlikely to change the outcome for me, but if it stems from the stud I may be able to prevent this heartbreak for someone else.
