Now I was looking at these a couple of months ago. I'm not particularly keen on putting an excess of chemicals into my horses....however the research that this threw up was astonishing to me.....is it true?

Can anyone confirm/deny that herbal wormers have glass in them?

And doesn't that worry you a little more than feeding chemicals?

Well I don't know whether this is true - the thing is when I read up on a few of the ingredients and translated them; it turned out they were the same components as glass.

Do they do worm counts in Argentina?

I cant confirm or deny, am a bit shocked, but could find out.

I presume if they do contain glass that they are tiny glass beads or balls, like exfoliants and not like smashed bottles!!

I will ask my supplier.

Yes I would imagine that they would be not shards and probably miniscule exfoliants which tear at the worms or something like that? I was just very surprised as to how this could discriminate between what is a worm and what is lining of the innards.

Ye I would be most interested if you ask your person and see if they have ever heard of this.

The stuff I read was not specific but generic and it wasn't a case of which vehicle the wormer was carried in - therefore the inference was it was there regardless.

I asked my vet and they will certainly do the tests. Whether or not they are in common use is anyone's guess... mine is that they're not, based mainly on the fact that hardly anyone has a decent understanding of the subject.

Sounds like here. Mind you even if it were readily available, what a palaver it would be for me to do this.

I don't recall finding anything untowards with Verm X. I believe it is purely the herbs which are used as a repellant. It could very well just be the ones over here - I would think that the registering of such drugs are quite different to the standards over there.

I just wondered if anyone had ever heard of this before or was it all just hot air.
