I have two that are approx. 60yrs old. I had one recovered and use it for in hand classes (it was originally tweed to match a Bernard Weatherill Jacket. The other had already been recovered.
I love both of them but there is no way I would ride in either - but then I wouldn't ride in a Patey
I think someone told me they were absorbed by Patey back in the day?
ETA Just looked through your photo link - I'm really liking the dun
You will probably find that for many shows you cannot wear a hat with no harness, it caused issues last year with some shows and qualifiers, that is a lovely hat but it may be very expensive if you hardly get any use out of it, you really need to check the rule books of the societies you plan on affiliating with to see whether it is allowed, it will not be acceptable for the jumping phase of workers.
If there was a 54 cm hat that would not be as expensive I think I would buy it . Just the price really scares me . Plenty of showing this year . Hoping to get into rds for a small hunter no jumping . I have seen people wear beaglers so don't think it should be a problem . Northern Ireland festival allowes beaglers as far as I know .
You can ride in it at RDS and I would think most other shows in Ireland. You can do the HOYS qualifier at Tats in it. and I think Balmoral still allows them.
300 Euro in original box is cheaper than a new Patey. Does it fit you? I would make an offer if you really like it
If you get it and you need work doing on it send me a PM and I will let you know who you can use to get work done.
Just to reiterate, I would not ride in mine, even though others do!!
