Today we had our first dressage show of the year.
We had our usual 2 hour hack to get there and he was actualy quite well behaved which made me worry he was saving it all up for the show
We arrived at the show ground just as the air ambilance was leaving, A lady had come off her horse in the warmup and it had landed ontop of her. Hopefuly she wasn't to badly hurt.
This ment the show was running late so I took Herbs to the warmup area of the field and gave him a little walk and trot about. He thought about napping one or two times but on the whole he was a very good boy.
I went into the arena and Herbs felt awesome. He had a little nap at the exit as we rode round before the bell but I just rode him through it and he didn't try it again.
The test was going realy well till in the middle we have to turn across the school and hault at x. It was fine till I asked him to walk on and he said no. I gave him a little incouragment with the whip and he steped backwards. Only a small step backwards but I knew we'd loose marks for that. I put it out my mind and carryed on with the test.
At the end I just felt like I was going to burst with pride. we had made it through the test with only one small hiccup.
When I went to get my sheet I couldn't believe it was had come 2nd. I looked at the sheet and had to stare at the mark for our final down the center line and hault. I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me but no that realy was a 9 on the score sheet!!!!!
I did the whole 2 hour hack home grinning like a cheshire cat. The drivers must have thought I was mad.
I'm so very proud of my little pony. He's come such a long way from the agressive unridable pony I was told to give up on 5 years ago. It's all been worth it every tear, every bruse, Every battle.
He realy does go to show every pony deserves a chance nomatter how horrid they are.
I went on my own today so no video of the test i'm afraid but I made this herbie video the otherweek.
