Herbs to help recovery post-virus? (native ponies potentially metabolic/PSSM)

My ponies have been poorly with some sort of virus. Are on a course of antibacterials and anti-inflammatories. Will be re-assessing them early next week with our vet but thinking on to how best to look after them through the post-virus recovery stage.
One of them is indicating that he's rather partial to herbs so wondered if there were any herbs/herb blends that may be helpful for a few weeks to help them recover (will be discussing with vet but interested if anyone's found anything good?)

Ponies are both natives, may or may not be PSSM or EMS so are treated as such.
They are in at night and turned out during the day (rugged at this time of year as we are on a windy hill)
Basically fed hay and the smallest handful of chaff or grassnuts as a carrier for meds/sups - no other hard feed.
One absolutely loathes anything with linseed in and they are a bit suspicious of strong spicy flavours
I have some Milk Thistle here already.

Thankees

Thank you all for your suggestions - they've started on a herbal tonic (which they say is yummy) so hopefully everyone's on the mend
