My friend José says I asked her for a HUGE jump at the 6th (fence I fell at) but I don't think I did- Well, I know I asked for a biggish jump, but not unachievable. I think PF thought about fiddling in an extra stride and changed her mind too late. Feel free to say what you think happened. It's not a great round; a bit stop-go but we're working on that.

Ouch times 2!

ETS: Was fence number 6

Holly hell PF, how brave are you! I had my heart in my mouth watching that!

TBH I've seen far, far worse rounds in every level of SJ and they've come out of it without a scratch, I think you were just incredibly unlucky.....

Glad your both on the mend now

OUCH!
Agree it looks like she thought about putting in an extra that never happened, glad you are both on the mend

And have not seen any pics of the baby for a while ..hint hint

I would say it was prob a bog standard 4 stride TBH, maybe a touch short - she certainly didn't come over the previous overly big and she wasn't going in an open stride either! She would have been standing off a tad if she had jumped, but nothing ridiculous and certainly not something you should be beating yourself up about.

yup, she went to put another one in but then changed her mind but too late, I think frank was lucky 2 weeks ago not to do his jaw, - though we proper stood off and didn't make it I think, particularly as we were on concrete ground. Just scraped his nozzle

Me not so lucky,

we have done similar once before though and come off fine (softer landing)

Oh gosh, I didnt know you'd had a bad fall, I must of missed that post, hope your well on your way to recovery, I'd heard your horse had injured her jaw and that but I didnt know it was from a jumping accident.

((hugs))

OMG, glad you are both ok... agree with Weezy, think she just misjudged it a bit - she could have gone on the longer stride but for some reason thought about chipping one in, realised she was too close and going too fast for that, and jumped...

She has a lovely jump though, very pingy!

Yep, I think you're right about bog-standard 4 stride. I remember not being the least concerned that we were a wee bit far off the fence; she stood off the 3rd a bit and put in flier there. I'd rather let them (she and Antifaz) stand off a bit than try to fiddle a stride in (Instructor has taught me that, BTW, in case anyone wants to tell me off *cough*UncleJr*cough*

PF has been 'mending' and so has her mum! It was all looking quite promising to begin with, but I have to say, knowing what was coming made watching very uncomfortable...

LOL! It was quite hard for me to watch the first few times as well. My charming BF showed me the vid in the ambulance

Yep, fell on my mum's birthday! She was VERY peed off!!! The ambulance drivers could hear her screeching down the phone at me, insisting I give up riding immediately....

Thanks, I'm back in the saddle now, and I rode PF a little bit yesterday in her weird hackamore combination. Not sure when she'll be up for jumping, but I'm so relieved she's going to be fine!

About the 3rd stride towards the jump she does lift her head up or flick it quickly, wonder if something distracted her momentarily?

[/ QUOTE ]
It's possible as we were jumping towards the stands, but she's not really the type to get distracted. At least not in the ring.

Lovely jumper, glad you're both on the mend.

Thank you

she has got a lovely jump

we stood off didn't make it paddled (shot me out) then frank came down on his nose and his belly and rolled. He had to see chiro as ha shunted his poll and withers a bit but he is fine.

I stuck my arm out and cracked my radius up in by elbow

horses eh!?

I think I got off lightly with a broken collarbone. I'm glad Frank was OK!
