Anyone here fed up with the laws that make is almost impossible to drive your own 7.5 tonne horsebox if you work full time? Or think the horse passports are a waste of time? Or the new 48 hour notification before you can import semen from the EU?

Here's a chance to highlight these issues and maybe some of them will go away. They may not but at least we can try. :)

But if we don't highlight the stupidity of them then definitely nothing will happen. If we do highlight the nonsense we're having to deal with perhaps there will be a different way to interpret the EU laws. I'm certain that all the other countries in the EU don't insist on absolute adherence to these edicts like the UK does! So if they can get round them why can't we? But if we say and do nothing then nothing is what will happen.

I've just been looking at the advice on this (planning to buy a 7.5T in the next year or so) and it seems they're exempt if used for non-commercial purposes - is this not the case??

Regardless, I agree it is an utterly ridiculous rule for non-commercial use. I know people who require an HGV lorry for their larger horses and it seems an infringement on their civil liberties to be unable to compete in their spare time so I will certainly support an exemption. I'm on Nick Clegg's page now!

You're fine up to 7.5 ton at the moment.. but there is nothing to say our Rulers in europe wont come up with a change in the near future..

Maybe they thumb there noses at some of the EU laws in other countrys but if you do something contary to a law it could invalidate your insurance
Sadly we have given up our rights to goven ourselves the uk goverment is just like a local council now ie got some powers but ultimately the real power is in brussels
and few politicians are going to want to pull us out of the eu because its a cushy number for them look at kinoch and his useless ex primary school teacher wife for instance.

What about the fact my mother, who has towed a trailer for years will no longer be allowed to when she turns 70! Apparently she'll then have to pass the ridiculous waste-of-money trailer test!
