Do heritage bridles have any distinctive marks other than the stud on the browband?
I've bought a 2nd hand bridle advertised as heritage but I'm not convinced its right. The browband is deffo heritage but the rest of the bridle doesn't seem as good a quality. I know stubben stamp the keepers so just wondered if heritage do a similar thing?
Thanks

There is a whole thread on here recently about heritage bridles - seems there are two companies branding bridles as heritage, one made by Marlowe saddlery I think which iirc don't have any branding on most but some have a Marlowe stud? Then there are the 'heritage English' bridles that people were generally saying we're less good quality an cheaper but I have a couple of these and been happy with them. Think they have heritage on the buckle.

I have a new marlow heritage bridle and it has Marlow stud on the brow band.
(lovely quality stuff he makes BTW - its nicer than my Stubbens one)

Just re-read the replies....so no stamps on the better quality ones & stamped buckles on the cheaper ones right?
The browband on this bridle is lovely but the rest of it is quite brittle and a couple of the buckles are rusting even tho the seller it was excellent condition had been oiled & stored :(

I think your seller may have put a good browband on a different bridle. I have six heritage bridles without a bit of rust anywhere and all the leather is the same quality, good English leather sewn together in Asia.

Marlow Heritage tack is more expensive and better quality again, but Asian made Heritage bridles are nothing like cheap Asian leather, Asian made imports which is what the rest of yours sounds like.

I bought it from preloved, paid through PayPal.
I'll email the seller & see what she says.
Tbh I don't really care what make it is, I just want a good quality bridle for everyday use and it was my understanding that heritage bridles were just that which is why I bought it. I'm just not happy with quality of the leather.

Just checked - mine (heritage English) has heritage stamped all over the place. It's about 18 months old and no sign of rust or anything, been very pleased with it for the price it's one of the 'comfort' ones. Am going to list it on eBay soon though as Christmas present is a new black bridle for my youngster as both his saddles are black and that bridle is brown!
