He's back on form!

Took my horse show jumping yesterday and he got a 6th but most importantly loved it

He loves jumping and i evented him last season but towards end started stopping and refused to start xc at one point. I have had him 6 years and adore him but was seriously starting to wonder what to do with him, i want to compete but will not make my horse if he really doesn't want to.

Anyway gave him a holiday, just picking him up again so took him, could barely hold one side of him he was so excited

tried to just let him get on with it as i can be an interferer and he likes to think he is in control so fingers crossed he will be my eventer this year!!

Hello,

Have you had your saddle checked? I had a similar problem with a previous horse & it was cos the front of the saddle was pinching as he's put on more muscle from hard work / competing. Changed my saddle & had a completely different horse. Just a thought...

Yes, he has had a full MOT checked teeth, saddle, back, vet has even blood tested him, wasn't just me being paranoid vet has known him for years and expected to find something. Conclusion is horse is eccentric

He is a slightly strange character and will only do something if he thinks it is a good idea!!!

Now if i was reading this i would think that horse is taking the p**s but i have worked with horses for the last 9 years and have ridden some daft ones but this horse is like nothing i have ever known!!!. I love him and think he is great but he has it his way or not at all

Any suggestions would be great though
