Buddy passed away peacefully yesterday. I am utterly heartbroken to have lost such an amazing dog. I consider myself so lucky to have had such a beautiful and kind and loving companion for the past 15 years.

My mum and step dad took him to the vet and text me saying he went very peacefully. He took a big sigh and opened his eyes as if to say 'Thank You'

I have of course, spent most of my weekend crying but one of our lovely liveries let me take her 4YO out for an hours walking hack today which brought a smile to my face.

I am glad it was a sunny beautiful weekend that he went. His KC name was 'Apollo Golden Sun' and it almost feels as if its not the sun shining but his spirit sending us a message to saying 'Its Ok, I got here safe and I am with Bates. Don't feel bad-I am at peace now'

sorry if I am making anyone cry here-my eyes are over flowing now

Thank you so much to everyone who posted on my previous thread. It means so much to have such amazing support.

I'm gonna miss him so much

{{{Hugs}}} They do leave big holes in our lives, strange holes that can be full of memories and love. It's not enough and it's not the same, but it's something. Sorry, I'm probably not making much sense.

R.I.P. Buddy.

Lots of sympathy and more {{{hugs}}}

I lost my old Retriever just over a year ago, your pic reminded me so much of her - she was an amazing, loyal family member and I miss her so much.

I know you will have so many happy memories to treasure.
My thoughts are with you.

I'm so sorry too but glad that it was peaceful. In time the pain you are feeling will lessen and you will be able to remember him with happiness, love and laughter. Take comfort from the fact that you were the owner that every dog dreams of. Big hugs x

god you've made me ball my eyes out...i had my retriever pts on saturday at 14.5 years so i know exactly how you are feeling right now...you've done the right thing xxxx

I hope you're OK. I am so heartbroken but I am happy he is finally at peace.

RIP to your doggy too. They're probably up there playing together!

Just reading that has me in tears!
It is the hardest thing in the world to go through, but the pain does lessen.
And at least in this case you know it was the right time for him to go.
So sorry, (hugs)
The pic of him is lovely by the way
Nickie
