He was down in the field this morning. Dont know for how long. No will to get up. Vet agreed that nothing more could be done and to PTS as the fact he couldnt use all legs showed a severe lesion/growth/tumour in the neck, nothing more could be done.

So at 11:25 he went. S he was already down, he just gave that tiny sigh and that was it.

He is now resting at the bottom of his fave wee hill at my parents.

I wish I had gone with my instincts and moved him on Tuesday and then PTS later that day. And spared him having to be moved to be buried. He had his own wee accidental procession, with 3 black cars ending up following the tractor...I'm feeling a bit sad now. I helped load him onto the tractor and saw when he was buried and it makes me feel better as I know exactly what's happened to him.

The vet who PTS was amazing......I am going to write him a thank you card as he has the best bedside manner of any vet I have dealt with. Treated my Boy like he was a dude, even after he had gone. Made it all so comfortable and stress free.
I'm still irked that a vet with over 20 years experience......and the main equine vet completely missed the symptoms - which a whole yard full of people said was clearly neurological. But hey, what can I do.

A lot of people are sad today, he really was such a dude......everyone who knew him loved him.

Big Hugs for my Beauzo........Going to miss your voice xxx

So very sorry that you've lost your beautiful boy. Big hugs.

You did the best for him, but sadly some of these conditions are never going to be beaten, and all you can do is help ease their passing.

Try to remember him as he is in that photo running free with the wind in his mane.

I'm so sorry for your loss!

Please do not feel guilty. He had you by his side and I'm sure that meant loads to him. Your vet sounds lovely!

Sorry again *hugs* he was beautiful, RIP.

So, so very sorry, he is now at peace and out of pain, he was beautiful and will now run free over the bridge. The photo is a beautiful one and I hope you remember him like that, lovely boy!

Thanks. I think though I am sad, it doesn't hurt as I know he wasn't taken unjustly.

It was his time to go. I'm not angry with anyone, or questioning the what ifs, as it was something that we had no control over what so ever. Nothing fixable or preventable.

He had his 16 years, and I had the pleasure of owning him nearly 8 of those.

What a gorgeous boy he was, and bless him, making that decision so cut and dried for you. So sad but at least he went peacefully.

So so sorry for your loss. He was very beautiful and he wanted you to know he was ready. What a lovely post and I'm glad you could be with him.

Very sorry to hear that you lost your lad. Beautiful boy in the pic. But, you made the right choice,..still doesnt make it easy. *hug*

Sorry for your loss and sending hugs its rubbish when this happens,I am sure he is now having a charge around like in the picture and what a handsome lad.
