We are 10 days into puppy ownership and so far all is well 😁
He's very opinionated and I have a feeling he may be more difficult to train than our old Vizsla but it's early days and he's so fabulous, we are all well and truly smitten!

Gorgeous! His nose looks like it's made to receive kisses 😍

He is a Bracco Italiano, he's the first Bracco we have owned.
They are an Italian Gundog breed. After we lost our Vizsla we debated our next dog. I would love another Vizsla but our old boy was so perfect I didn't want a puppy that we would constantly compare to him.
Sticking to the HPR theme I was torn between an English Pointer or a Bracco, but my middle daughter was so desperate for a Bracco that her vote won!

So far he's amazing, hard work - as all puppies are - but so far a bit more chilled than the Vizsla was at his age. He doesn't seem quite as human focused as our V was at this stage and already seems to have a fabulous nose - hence my thinking he may be a bit less trainable but time will tell 😁

I seem to think that foxhounds were involved in the breed development… or did I dream that? Is he from a working background?
I met a man who worked a team of them once, they looked amazing.

I haven't researched the breed development but they definitely have some foxhound characteristics.

The lady who bred him works and shows them.
We plan to train him - we'll see how he goes, and take it from there, I've promised I will show him as his breeder thinks he has a lot of potential, so ringcraft classes and Gundog training are his immediate future.

My word, he looks huge! Is he from the UK? I don’t think I’ve ever seen one over here. Am I imagining it, or did Shady have one? Or was that a bleu de Gascogne (similar ears)?
Not had one CT , but would definitely like one !! I had a Grand Bleu de Gascogne with wonderful ears !!
I actually didn't realise that the Braccs are classed as dogs and not hounds, my mistake

I think they are in the Gundogs at Crufts?
Yes I think you're right Clodagh
They are really interesting to me as i've got the Weims , but have also had a proper French boar hound
At first glance I automatically placed the Brac as a scent hound and not a gundog. I don't know the breed that well, but I can imagine owning one now.Very jealous!!:D
