Thanks so much for all the tips and advice on our greyhound home check. I'm pleased to say we passed this morning and picked him up this afternoon.

He's absolutely adorable and seems to have made himself at home already...as I type he's sleeping under the skylight on the landing! He's a smart cookie too, he's already sussed getting in and out of the boot after initially being unsure. He's curled up in his crate happily and after a few bambi moments he got the hang of the stairs. Unfortunately he's also sussed out where all the food lives lol!

So everyone meet Daffi...

Thanks all! We think he's a stunner but then again we're pretty biased! We're amazed how chilled he's been so far. Although the tv with surround sound has been a source of much interest.

Oh he's lovely!! So glad you passed the homecheck OK!

Greys are very chilled. My grandparents had an ex-racer and she was so laidback and a complete sweetheart :)

Congratulations!! He looks a lovely boy, look forward to lots more pics :), I got my first Grey a year ago now and they are just lovely, wouldn't be without one now. :)

What a gorgeous boy! I am sure you'll have some marvellous adventures together :D It's amazing how quickly they adapt and change :D

He's gorgeous!!
Was wondering when the home check was after you previous thread and how you got on, such a fab update.

Sorry for not replying to all your lovely comments sooner. It was my 30th at the weekend so we've been a bit busy and the mobile site was doing that annoying thing where you can only view the first page of comments :(

So Dafs has been with us 4 days now, and it's honestly been so much easier than we imagined...OH is already saying he understands why people always have more than one greyhound!

We have had some paw related dramas (those that know the Pops saga can imagine how I'm feeling!) as he came to us with a slight cut to one of his pads...which obviously meant we could only walk on three legs unless we were playing, or forgot which leg was sore :D Just as the lameness was clearing he had a mishap yesterday during a funny 5 minutes around the garden, splitting the pad on his other front paw cue wailing and blood everywhere! I was terrified he'd done some serious damage but I've been reassured by the vet this is quite common in newly retired racers and today he seems his usual perky self again so we're not too worried.

I'm so impressed with how easily he has slotted into our life and already can't imagine not having him around. He's such a sweetheart...although OH is a little jealous I seem to be his favourite person at the moment. I don't think he realises the reality of having a shadow whilst in the shower or having a pee!

Oh and he's a total pro at roaching...

The day he arrived, in one of his favourite spaces.
