I was sure it was stickied in this forum - but I've not been able to find it! I've got some progress I wanted to brag about!

Well, if you insist! ;) LOL

Just rather excited cos I've made a breakthru on my boy's diet progress. He's gone down to 478 on the wt tape (from 537 originally) and while it's not been any ONE thing to help with his progress (recently increased worked, re-clipped) but it has been most noticeable due to the use of hay/straw mixed. Super happy with this latest improvement. Anyone thinking about it for their overweight or laminitic: go for it! :D

Feeding correctly for each horse's individual needs and yes, exercise. In my horse's case, as much as humanly and humanely possible.

He's got to be worked 5-7 times a week, minimum of 30 minutes. I need to ignore what OTHER people are feeding their horses. I watch folk with masses of hay in huge nets and that just wouldn't do for my boy. Even half that is too much for him. He literaly gets a single slice of hay and a single slice of oat straw stuffed into small holed nets, doubled so that it takes longer for him to consume. Other than that, he gets good doer chaff, and balancer and that's it. He's clipped fully and lightly rugged (still pretty cold and wet where we are).

My mare has lost quite a bit of weight since I started feeding her 1.5% of her bodyweight. I weigh and soak hay and double net. I'll check to see what kind of straw the liveries use as I use shavings.
