Patty, I think it's a great shame that someone who argued so strenguously in JG's defence is now reduced to just posting smilies.

Well, you may well have.

But you have nothing more to contribute to any conversation on JG.

Absolutely no shame in admiting defeat - or just walking away.

Copied and Pasted:

Just had it confirmed from a neighbour (who also happens to be a magistrate) that because JG has appealed (and because his prison sentence was short) the law dictated that he had to be released on bail pending the appeal.

I can assure anyone that might be concerned, that today's event is in no way a victory for James Gray...it's just a general, legal formality that no judge had the power to overturn. So quite honestly, I'm not quite sure what Patty is so overjoyed about...after all, it was common knowledge that JG would appeal.

Thank you for posting that smallholder, it seems a shame that he was let out after only 4 days when he was found to be guilty though!

[/ QUOTE ]

According to the information from the magistrate, dependant on the outcome, the sentence will only be deffered untill after the appeal, he will then either have to serve the remainder of that sentence or possibly even have it extended if the district judge decides to commit it to Crown court.

Just to add, the reason why the bail was granted would be because JG would have served his sentence before the appeal went to court. If by any chance he won the appeal, this would mean he had served time in prison as an innocent person.

Hope that makes sense - I'm just passing the magistrates information on.
